Today is the 19th Birthday of someone who is special.

This animal has had many rings, more than Tolkien and he is the true Lord of The Rings. I am of course writing about Sonic. Sonic is 19 today and so here are some facts about our blue spikey friend.

• Sonic is available to play ONLINE AND FOR FREE via a flash game. http://www.freesonic.org/
• The first Sonic game was released on June 23, 1991.
• Sonic was created as a 15 year old anthropomorphic hedgehog.
• Sonic is actually 34 years old when that point above is taken into account.
• Sonic was created to compete against the italian plumber and also Alex Kidd would be replaced by Sonic.
• Sonic has a nemesis called Dr Robotnik who plans to take over the world!!
• Sonic has a friend called Tails
• Sonic has featured in many games, approximately 13.
• Sonics theme song is called “It doesn’t matter”.
• Several actors have lent their voices for Sonic the Hedgehog character over the years. The first among them was Takeshi Kusao for Sonic the Hedgehog. Later on Junichi Kanemaru started providing his voice with release of Sonic Adventure. Ryan Drummond was the first English game voice actor for the Sonic. He provided his voice for Sonic Adventure and continued to so till the year 2004. Jason Anthony Griffith took over from him after that.
• Sonic’s shoes were inspired by Micheal Jackson’s thriller.
• Sonic was originally meant to be a villain.
• Robotnik was originally meant to be the hero.
• Mighty the Armadillo was Sonic’s prototype design
• Sonic was originally going to be a rabbit
• Sonic was also the first non-Disney videogame character to be featured at Walt Disney World.
• Sonic’s fave food is Chilli Dogs, apparently
