Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will be released as an exclusive on XboxLive Arcade on May 9th.Some people may ask, What is Minecraft? well I will tell you.

First off its a ‘game’ I have never played. I have wanted to but just never jumped into it…it’s also built by independent game developer Markus “Notch” Persson and his company Mojang. He recently won an award too.  The game is also based on limitless creativity and building in a three dimensional sandbox world. While still in its alpha and beta phases on PC, Minecraft amassed a wide following and became an international phenomenon – it’s now sold 5 million copies. The addictive building game is currently available on Windows PC, is under development for mobile devices.

Also with it coming to Xbox360 possibilities for creativity is now infinte and will bring the global phenomenon to console gamers for the first time. The Xbox LIVE Arcade version of the game features an innovative new crafting interface, natural controller movements, a full Tutorial mode to teach the basics and for the first time in Minecraft, split-screen multiplayer as well as over Xbox LIVE.

You will also be able to mine with friends as the title will deliver a great multiplayer experience only possible on Xbox 360. You will be able to have up to four players via split screen gameplay on one console, sharing the experience for the first time from the comfort of your couch. Friends can also join up over Xbox LIVE* – combine split screen and Xbox LIVE play in any combination up to 8 players.

If you are reading this and worrying over how the interface will work on a console well you don’t need to as its been officially stated that  a streamlined interface will open at the press of a button, and players can choose from several categories of items to create. Minecraft – Xbox 360 Edition will also explain what each object is, what it does and what is required for building so players new to the world of Minecraft (like I will be) can get into the action right away.
