Pre-orders for ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops II’ began yesterday at Amazon.co.uk with the second instalment of the Black Ops series achieving more than three times the orders received for 2010’s ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops‘ in the first 24 hours.

2 New Call of Duty Maps Released Today

Today XBOX360 Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 players will gain 2 new maps named Sanctuary & Foundation. These will be maps number 7 and 8 of the 22 maps that will be released this year.

Here is some info on the 2 maps.

ELITE DROP 7: SANCTUARY
Suspended in the air one thousand feet up, you’ll battle more than altitude in the towering sandstone monasteries of Central Greece. Formed over millions of years, this sanctuary’s natural rock pillars have repelled invading armies and withstood the ravages of time but now they’ll face your deployment. Test your skills—and the ancient monks’ craftsmanship—with your arsenal of SMG’s, assault rifles and shotguns. Just remember: don’t look down.

ELITE DROP 8: FOUNDATION
Journey into the heart of South Korea for a decommissioned concrete factory where the cement flows and bullets fly. After decades of constructing roads and buildings, the towering facility is now a perfectly-constructed combat zone for sniping and run-and-gun rules of engagement. Don’t stand in awe of the towering concrete crusher at the center of the factory unless you want to see your kill ratio meet the same fate.

Activision revealed last night that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection #1 will be released on Xbox LIVE on 20^th March, the first of four Content Collections available for purchase to all Call of Duty: MW3 gamers. MW3 Collection #1 includes an unprecedented breadth and variety of content for Call of Duty downloadable release – four brand new multiplayer maps Liberation, Piazza, Overwatch and Black Box along with new Special Ops Missions Black Ice and Negotiator, marking the first time Special Ops has been made downloadable online in franchise history.In “Black Box,” players will battle beside a downed Air Force One amidst multi-level homes overlooking the luxurious Southern California neighbourhood. Infiltrating a diamond mine aboard a snowmobile in the Special Ops mission “Black Ice,” your primary objective is to plant high-grade explosives in order to shut the mine down forever. In “Negotiator,” you head to India for high-stakes hostage extraction in which you’ll breach-and-clear rooms and navigate surface streets to ensure the safety of your VIPs.

Additionally for Call of Duty Elite Premium Members on Xbox LIVE, Call of Duty Elite Content Drops 4-6, featuring Black Box, Negotiator and Black Ice, will be available for download on 13^thMarch. Elite Content Drops 4-6 and MW3 Collection #1 will be made available on other platforms at a later date.

The Modern Warfare 3 Content Season is published by Activision and co-developed by Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software. Coming first to Call of Duty Elite Premium Members on Xbox LIVE, all content will be available to Premium Members on other available platforms at a later date. Activision has lit the fuse on the highly-anticipated Modern Warfare® 3 Content Season for Call of Duty® Elite, with the release of two all-new multiplayer maps, the opening salvo of nine consecutive months of downloadable content for Call of Duty® Elite’s premium members on Xbox LIVE.

Call of Duty Elite Drop 1: Liberation, a militarised Central Park in the heart of NYC, featuring a vast landscape ripe for long-range sniper and LMG kills. Mounted turrets on opposing ends of the map offer overwhelming firepower to anyone brave enough to man them. Elite Drop 2: Piazza, set in an idyllic seaside village, Italian getaway gone rogue, where blind corners and a complex network of branching pathways pose danger at every turn. Visceral close-quarters combat dominates in Piazza, and attacks from above and below are an ever-constant threat.

To celebrate the launch of the new content drops on Xbox LIVE, Call of Duty Elite will run specialised community screen shot events highlighting the new maps through the end of the month, with real-world prizes on tap for winners.

Modern Warfare 3 Spawn Update

Activision has released a new Modern Warfare 3 update, which should download in the background next time you sign in.The update as tweeted by @fourzerotwo Robert Bowling - Creative Strategist @InfinityWard on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 addresses issues with the game’s spawning logic. If you’ve found yourself respawning into death more often than not which is highly frustrating, this should now be greatly improved. This will change when / where / how you spawn and should make gameplay much more enjoyable.

Modern Warfare 3 Patch 1.06 Announced, All Patch Notes So Far, and More

Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling has revealed what’s been fixed in Modern Warfare 3 so far and what you can expect in terms of patches and hotfixes in the near future.Robert Bowling has posted, on the official Call of Duty forums, all the patch notes of the first five title updates. Also, he reveals what patch 1.06 (title update #6) will address. Unfortunately, there’s no ETA on when patch 1.06 will go live. However, we now know what the team behind MW3 is working on beyond the upcoming patch. One feature I am looking forward to is the removal of buttons in names, not only are they annoying but they just make you look like a d!ck and if I had an option to hit you with a ban hammer, I would.

Keep in mind, patches have to go through Sony and Microsoft’s certification processes in order to be available to download on your console; meanwhile, hotfixes can be pushed at any time without the need to be downloaded.

Patch 1.06

Additional improvements to address lag.
Fix for Melee Jump.
Clan Tag Validation (removal of buttons from clan tags).
Improve Host Migration logic.
Prevent stat Loss.

Why You Should Buy The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Brady Guide

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is a good game. What is also good is the guide from Brady Games which covers the single player missions thoroughly.As mentioned the single player campaign is fully covered explaining where you will find intel locations and even which achievements you can earn on that mission. As we all know with games like this its not just about achievements, it’s also about leaderboards, KDRs and unlocking awesome stuff. The guide fully covers every weapon, attachment and all the new perks.

There is two versions of this great guide and both are bursting with colourful pictures, shiny pages and everything is well written so there really is no excuses as to why you can’t get to the end of any mission. If you opt-in for the more expensive hardback limited edition you also get a very nice stand up flip-chart featuring all the multiplayer maps. Where as these are just on pages in the normal, standard guide. Not only are the missions and multiplayer maps covered but they also tell you which is the best combination of weapons to use throughout multiplayer and also what the new Kill Streak system is all about.

The non hardback version which is the one I have is available now from Amazon and its around £8.89, and the Hardcover Limited Edition costs around £13.83. Which ever you buy this christmas and for who ever it’s for I can definately say that you will not feel disappointed at all.

1600 Players Banned in Modern Warfare 3 Crackdown

Before Modern Warfare 3′s release, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer games made it perfectly clear that, through using Elite and through taking more notice of user complaints, people who misuse the game online were going to be punished. A little over a week since release, 1600 people have been punished.

Reiterating on his Twitter, Robert Bowling made it clear that “any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in MW3 will not be tolerated.” While I’m sure that a few of these 1600 will crawl out of the woodwork to complain about buying a $60 and being banned 9 days later, normal players will be happy at the level of dedication the teams at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer are putting into keeping MW3 a clean and safe place to play.
