Call of Duty Elite Drop 1: Liberation, a militarised Central Park in the heart of NYC, featuring a vast landscape ripe for long-range sniper and LMG kills. Mounted turrets on opposing ends of the map offer overwhelming firepower to anyone brave enough to man them.  Elite Drop 2: Piazza, set in an idyllic seaside village, Italian getaway gone rogue, where blind corners and a complex network of branching pathways pose danger at every turn. Visceral close-quarters combat dominates in Piazza, and attacks from above and below are an ever-constant threat.

To celebrate the launch of the new content drops on Xbox LIVE, Call of Duty Elite will run specialised community screen shot events highlighting the new maps through the end of the month, with real-world prizes on tap for winners.

Published by Activision and co-developed by three powerhouse studios – Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software – the Modern Warfare 3 Content Season will include an unprecedented breadth and variety of new content. Liberation and Piazza are the first two of twenty new Content Drops for Call of Duty Elite premium members, rolling out once a month throughout the nine-month DLC season. The Content Drops will be available for purchase by the entire Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 player community on Xbox LIVE in March, as part of the first Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection.  The Content Drops will be available on additional platforms at a later time.

There is two versions of this great guide and both are bursting with colourful pictures, shiny pages and everything is well written so there really is no excuses as to why you can’t get to the end of any mission. If you opt-in for the more expensive hardback limited edition you also get a very nice stand up flip-chart featuring all the multiplayer maps. Where as these are just on pages in the normal, standard guide. Not only are the missions and multiplayer maps covered but they also tell you which is the best combination of weapons to use throughout multiplayer and also what the new Kill Streak system is all about.

The non hardback version which is the one I have is available now from Amazon and its around £8.89, and the Hardcover Limited Edition costs around £13.83. Which ever you buy this christmas and for who ever it’s for I can definately say that you will not feel disappointed at all.

Reiterating on his Twitter, Robert Bowling made it clear that “any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in MW3 will not be tolerated.” While I’m sure that a few of these 1600 will crawl out of the woodwork to complain about buying a $60 and being banned 9 days later, normal players will be happy at the level of dedication the teams at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer are putting into keeping MW3 a clean and safe place to play.

• More than 7.0 million multiplayer hours were logged playing  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 by the end of launch day, November 8, a 19% increase over last year’s 5.9 million multiplayer hours logged playing  Call of Duty: Black Ops last year’s launch day.
• More than 3.3 million unique gamers played  Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in one day on November 8  up from 2.6 million unique gamers for  Call of Duty:  Black Ops.
• Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 set a new record for concurrent players on Xbox LIVE with 3.3 million simultaneous users on November 8.

“The  Call of Duty franchise returned to Xbox 360 this year with another record-breaking launch.  More than 7 million multiplayer hours were played on  Modern Warfare 3 on day-one of launch on Xbox 360,” said Don Mattrick, president of the interactive entertainment business at Microsoft.  “And with the exclusive first access to new multiplayer content, we’re proud Xbox 360 is home to the largest and most engaged  Call of Duty community.”

The Call of Duty Endowment was conceived by Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, in November of 2009 in an effort to raise awareness for veterans’ unemployment. Since that time, the Endowment has provided more than $1.5 million in grants and scholarships to many organizations and colleges throughout the United States. These funds have contributed to more than 700 veteran jobs, more than 2,500 veterans receiving job training, and more than 30 receiving scholarships.

“The fact that over 20 percent of our nation’s youngest veterans are unemployed is unacceptable,” said Kotick. “These are the very same men and women who put their lives on the line to guarantee our freedom and security. Veterans Day is a time to reflect and renew our commitment to ensure our military heroes have the tools to reintegrate successfully back to civilian life. The Call of Duty Endowment is dedicated to the mission of bringing attention to veterans’ unemployment and finding a solution to this serious issue.  We hope that other businesses and organizations will join us.”

Separately, the Call of Duty Endowment today announced that it is providing a $250,000 grant to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s National Chamber Foundation.  The grant will support the Chamber’s Hiring our Heroes program and allow the National Chamber Foundation to host hiring fairs in 25 cities nationwide in 2012, which is expected to result in at least 3,500 jobs for veterans.

“The National Chamber Foundation is committed to the issue of helping veterans find meaningful employment,” said Kevin Schmiegel, Vice President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Veterans Employment Program. “Since we launched the Hiring our Heroes program in March of 2011, the Chamber has conducted 63 hiring fairs and connected over 55,000 veterans and military spouses with over 2,500 different employers in 37 states. To date, more than 3,400 veterans and spouses are employed as a result. The grant from the Call of Duty Endowment will allow us to greatly expand our efforts in 2012—we thank them for their support.”

The National Chamber Foundation grant is part of $500,000 in grants made by the Call of Duty Endowment in the fall of 2011.  Other beneficiary organizations include Still Serving Veterans (SSV), Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) and Business and Professional Women’s Foundation (BPWF).
