Before reading please be aware that this may include SPOILERS for some people. In order to remain spoiler free the ending of the post that includes the spoiler info is underneath the image below. The Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will be a downloadable content pack that will expand upon the events at the end of Mass Effect 3. Through additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes, the Extended Cut will include deeper insight to Commander Shepard’s journey based on player choices during the war against the Reapers.

The Extended Cut will be available to download at no additional charge on June 26th on Xbox 360 and PC and PlayStation 3.

Here’s the important bits.

The Extended Cut requires roughly 1.9 gigabytes of storage.

The Extended Cut is an expansion of the original endings to Mass Effect 3. It does not fundamentally change the endings, but rather it expands on the meaning of the original endings, and reveals greater detail on the impact of player decisions.

[SPOILERS] To experience the Extended Cut, load a save game from before the attack on the Cerberus Base and play through to the end of the game. The Extended Cut endings will differ depending on choices made throughout the Mass Effect series, so multiple playthroughs with a variety of different decisions will be required to experience the variety of possibilities offered by the new content.

Strengthen your forces and battle for new territories with the next downloadable content pack for Mass Effect™ 3 multiplayer! Available to download at no additional charge*, the Mass Effect 3: Rebellion Pack adds two brand-new maps, a new team objective and a new equipment slot to the game’s critically-acclaimed cooperative experience. The Mass Effect 3: Rebellion Pack will also introduce new unlockable characters, including the Vorcha, ex-Cerberus operatives and Male Quarians. Also available are all new weapons and items that can be obtained through reinforcement packs in the game’s multiplayer store.

The Mass Effect 3: Rebellion Pack will be available starting May 29 on XboxLIVE and the Origin™ client software and on PlayStation Network in North America on May 29 and in Europe on May 30.

The Mass Effect 3: Rebellion Pack includes the following content:

Two New Action-Packed Maps – Land on Firebase Jade, located in a Salarian STG base on Sur’Kesh and fight to control Firebase Goddesson the Asari homeworld of Thessia.

New In-Mission Objective – Randomly occurring during waves 3, 6 and 10, this new objective will demand that teams retrieve a high priority package and securely escort it to a designated extraction zone on each map.

New Gear Slot – A new slot will be available on the equipment screen, offering players a persistent gameplay bonus that will not expire after the end of a match. These new items will vary from weapon upgrades to character enhancements and will be available through reinforcement packs.

Lethal New Weapons – Eliminate the enemy with deadly new weapons, including the Cerberus Harrier, Krysae Sniper Rifle, and Reegar Carbine.

As part of the Mass Effect 3 Galaxy at War** system, success in the cooperative multiplayer experience in Mass Effect 3 links back to the player’s single-player campaign, helping Commander Shepard rally the forces of the galaxy to eliminate the Reaper threat once and for all. Multiplayer puts players in the role of a team of elite Special Forces soldiers sent to protect resources and assets that can help the greater war effort.

Tipped to top the gaming charts this March, Mass Effect 3, is going on sale at 00:01 tonight at Asda for just £37.97, an astonishing £12.02 below the official RRP of £49.99.
Over 200 Asda stores will be putting Mass Effect 3 on shelf at midnight on the official launch date of 9th March, with thousands of eager fans expected to flood into stores to get their hands on this much anticipated game, despite it being the middle of the night.

Andrew Thompson, Head of Games at Asda says:

“Mass Effect 3 is set to be a huge hit with the gaming community so we want to make sure it is affordable and available to play as soon as the clock strikes twelve.

In a move that is quite shocking for a retailer who are losing sales, closing 35 of it stores and even having to close down their online store Gameplay.co.uk, they have now announced that after the release of SSX they will no longer be selling EA titles, the same applies for Nintendo. Gamestation stores are also affected. Some customers were already alerted about this via an email saying they should reorder their N7 Collectors edition of Mass Effect 3 from retailers placed on this site.

Online news site Eurogamer have posted an image that shows a memo that was sent out to staff at 10:30am this morning. You can see the page here > http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-02-29-game-not-stocking-mass-effect-3-or-ea-games-past-ssx

Mario Party 9 will not be stocked by GAME and potentially no other Nintendo distrubted games beyond that has also been mentioned by GAME.

If anything changes then GhostStorm Gaming News will let you know.

Today I received an email saying that I had been chosen to take part in the Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer, via its demo on the Xbox 360.

So I loaded it up and away I went. Before we get to the various game modes lets have a look at the character aspect.

The choices available at this time for your character are:

Adept – Human Male

Soldier – Human Male

Engineer - Human Male

Sentinel - Human Female

Infiltrator - Human Female

Vanguard - Human Female

Each of those come with their own ‘powers’ such as Biotic Charge, Shockwave or even Sticky Grenades so there is plenty of choices to make when the game goes on sale. The next choice is usually weapons and there isn’t much to choose here as you only get one 1 free pack the others are bought with points but I am not sure if these points are earned in the game via single player or online in a similar fashion to exchanging your XP for new weapons etc.

Then we have Appearance. This gives you 6 options to make your own unique online presence.

Primary Color

Highlight Color

Secondary Color

Pattern

Pattern Color

Lights

At this time the only options available were Primary Color and Highlight Color so I went for a Dark Red with a Yellow Highlight which gave me a kind of a fiery look an I think it looks neat When you highlight the greyed out options you will see a message that says

“Customization options for this character are unlocked with class XP bonus cards, available in reinforcement packs.”

If you are wondering what reinforcement packs are then here is some official info on them:

Reinforcement Packs represent “supply drops” that players can earn for use in Mass Effect 3 multiplayer matches. In effect, each pack contains a random assortment of weapons and weapon upgrades, character unlocks, and in-game consumables such as damage and health boosts.

Additional info on reinforcement packs can be found here: http://masseffect.bioware.com/about/faq/#s3q01

What Can I Do On The Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer?

When you are happy with the custom character you have created you can head over to Quick Match or choose Create New Match, I went for the Quick Match Option.

You are then given more options and what looks like a solar system to the right of the screen.

Team

Location

Enemy

Challenge

At this time the only options you cannot change is the team option and the enemy option which is locked to Cerberus but you can change the location of where you want to play, these are the choices.

Any Location

Benning: Firebase Ghost

Noveria: Firebase White

It is a typical ‘Horde’ type gameplay which you can see in the likes of Gears of War and even Saints Row The Third where you fight off waves of enemies and each wave gets more and more difficult. Then when you have Any Challenge selected from the Quick Match screen you will not only have Hordes of enemies to fight off but also other aspects to contend with. I’m not saying its boring or anything – it is indeed fun, if you have the right person fighting along side you and not someone who prefers to just run off and let you die. You will also soon notice that the best way to survive is to stay together. If you do find yourself bleeding out you can either wait and hope a teammate can revive you or if fortunate, use your own medi-gel for a self-revive.

To keep the battles moving around the map and to stop your team from bedding in there are occasional monetary challenges that pop up, like taking out specific officers in a tight time limit or securing an uplink terminal in a very open area. The idea of tempting players away from a safe haven for some extra cash is great and it will sure cause many an argument in teams on the harder settings.

The multiplayer aspect is definitely going to prove to be a great asset to the game and you will wonder why it wasn’t done sooner.

The multiplayer side of the demo goes public on February 17th 2012 and the game goes on sale 9th March 2012
