 The Sims 3 – Ambitions: REVIEW
For the first time in The Sims 3 history you can now follow your Sims to work. As long as its one of the new professions that you get with the expansion that is. So whether that be a Doctor or Ghost Hunter its a great addition. The new career orientated expansion also features a new town/suburb/area/place to live, whatever you wanna call it….the place is called Twinbrook.

As with all other Sims franchise games the choices are endless and completely up to you. So for example you choose to be a Doctor you can be the on-call doctor or if helping people isn’t the route you want you could do some medical experiments on random sims. Or perhaps as a firefighter you just want to smash a sims house to bits with an axe instead of saving them, the choice is yours.

New careers are always welcomed in the Sims community as it adds more to the game and people also love to mod new stuff for it aswell. The game adds some new features too along side some familiar to the older fans of the series of The Sims games.

Have a look at the new features list:

* New town: Twinbrook
* New creature: SimBot, A SimBot is created by Sims with a high Inventing skill with an opportunity. It is confirmed that, as well as Inventing SimBots, players can purchase them with 40,000 Lifetime Happiness points.
* New mode: Renovation Mode is a variation of Build and Buy Modes and used by the architect to remodel for clients
* New Build mode abilities: modify the pitch of individual roof sections and add multi story columns.
* 3 new skills:
o Sculpting: Sims can create sculptures out of ice, metal, clay and wood with another Sim posing for them. (Seen in The Sims: Bustin’ Out)
o Inventing: There seems to be a wide variety of inventions. Servos are back as SimBots, along with a time machine. Sims get scraps for inventions from junk yards, a new type of lot, or by blowing things up.
o Tattooing: Players are taken to the tattoo editor where they can choose tattoos with up to five layers, modify their colours, change the size, modify the opacity, and select where to place it: upper, lower, or full back, neck, ankle, chest, stomach, wrist, shoulder, biceps, or forearm. (Seen in The Sims 2 for PS2). Tattooing is a hidden skill.
* Careers & professions
o 5 new professions: architectural designer, firefighter, ghost hunter, investigator, stylist.
o New career track, education and new features added to the existing medicine career track
o Sims can get self-employed by going to the city hall after gaining one skill point in a skill career.
o Control Sim’s actions and interactions while they’re on the job. According to a member of The Sims 3 staff, Sims will even be able to manage their careers to an extent while the player is not controlling them. “Every career has responsibilities and its own active jobs. Each active job will require [the player's] full attention, but there are still options that allow [the player's] Sim to progress and level up while not controlling them.”
o On-the-job choices now change the town and affect other Sims as well. Players modify the town’s structure as an architect or set neighbourhood fashions as a stylist.
* New lifetime wishes: Home Design Hotshot (Earn 100 top scores for jobs in the Architectural Design profession), Descendant of da Vinci (master painting, sculpting and inventing), Fashion Phenomenon (Reach level 10 in the Stylist profession)[10], Firefighter Super Hero (Save 30 lives on the job), Paranormal Profiteer (Reach level 10 in the Ghost Hunter profession), Pervasive Private Eye (Solve 35 cases on the job), Monster Maker (Create 3 Monsters)
* New Lifetime rewards: Fireproof your home, Career cash booster, Artisan crafter (boosts value of invented/sculpted items), Professional Simolean Booster, Efficient Inventor, Entrepreneurial Mindset, Suave Seller, Fireproof Homestead, My Best Friend
* Earthquakes appear in this game
* Child sims can run bake sales to make money.
* New objects
: fire engine vehicle, personal fire extinguisher, detonation packs, tattoo chair, lock-picking kit, trampoline. Collect scrap from the junk yard, and broken objects for inventing
* New upgrades
* six new traits
: Savvy Sculptor, Eccentric, Dramatic, Eco-Friendly, Perceptive, and Born Salesman/Saleswoman.
* Addition of the consignment shop as a place for Sims to sell their own items (collectibles, sculptures, etc.)
* Ability to register at City Hall to be self employed in a “Skill Career” for writers, fishermen, and gardeners.
* Overhauled real-estate system that lets the player purchase and upgrade any community lot building.
* New laundry system. It gives Sims a good moodlet. There are washers and dryers available including one dryer that has a special “surprise.”
* New Death: death by meteor.
* New vehicle type: Motorcycle
* Messages that appear on the right side of the screen are more organized.
* New lots including the consignment shop, junk yard, bar, laundromat, and fire station.

So as you can see its definately worth getting hold of and as its only £17.99 on Gamestation so its excellent value!
I really do feel like this has added a lot to the already massive Sims 3 and has definitely extended the life of my install and I am sure it will for you too.

I am currently working my way through the Ghost Hunter profession and visited the new town and it looks great, it even has swamps!! You will need to be careful though as I hear the earthquakes can be quite disturbing for your Sims.

To date I have owned every single Sims title and expansion including console releases and mobile releases and this new Sims 3 Ambition has to be one that is a benchmark in the series and is, in my opinion is required by all The Sims 3 fans to get to the full potential of the series.

This game is going to get a high score because it deserves it mainly due to the list of new features. I do however feel that the following to work feature should be there for all jobs and not just the new ones. I guess people will no longer use the original jobs as they will be bored yet again. I also felt like the game needed a few more jobs adding. A quick look at some of the more popular Sims communities could have helped find what jobs people wanted. Oh and where are our pets??
