True Crime is going to be 'original'!

Apparently what we know of GTA type worlds is not what we will see with True Crime.

True Crime is a “fresh and original” take on the open-world action genre, reckons United Front Games director, William Ho.

The UFG man claimed that the developer’s ability to approach the True Crime series with a “clean sheet” was a big advantage.

He said: “I think the designers on True Crime – just like ModNation Racers – have benefited from a clean sheet. They were able to build a team with the right talent, they were able to build a game engine with all of the right tools… there’s no legacy on our games and that’s been kind of a luxury.

“I think you’re going to see a pretty fresh and original take on the open-world action game. It’s not going to be confused for any other game,” he said.

The new instalment – in case you’ve missed it thus far – is set in Hong Kong and follows the hijinks of undercover cop, Wei Shen as he aims to infiltrate and bust a dangerous triad. Firefights, car chases and kung-fu kicks follow. Also the ingame Hong Kong is described as “accurate”, with more than 27,000 photographs used for reference.
