In 2011, Ubisoft’s Just Dance franchise came to the Kinect™ for Xbox 360 and the PlayStation Move for PlayStation 3 for the first time, in addition to its continued availability on the Wii system from Nintendo. Ubisoft recently broadened the brand with the release of Just Dance 2 Extra Songs and Just Dance Kids, they also launched Just Dance in Japan and Korea, selling more than a half a million copies in those two countries.

Ubisoft also expanded its dance game offerings throughout the year with the release of ABBA: You Can Dance, The Black Eyed Peas Experience, Michael Jackson The Experience, and most recently The Smurfs Dance Party. According to internal estimates Ubisoft games accounted for 64 percent of the dance game genre in EMEA in calendar year 2011.

Ubisoft will be showcasing hotly awaited releases including Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Just Dance 3, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Your Shape Evolved: Fitness 2. Visitors to GAMEfest will be able to get an early look at these games months before they go on general release across the UK.

The addition of Ubisoft and its diverse range of titles at GAMEfest adds to the growing list of gaming heavyweights, including Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and EA, that will be coming to this inaugural gaming event from GAME, with more exciting announcements set to follow very soon.

GAME UK marketing director Anna-Marie Mason said: “Ubisoft is a fantastic addition to the impressive list of publishers attending GAMEfest. We’re really excited to be giving GAMEfest customers the unique opportunity to be among the first to play a huge selection of soon-to-be-released titles from Ubisoft.”

GAMEfest will run from the 16-18 September 2011 at the Birmingham NEC with tickets available online on the GAME website.

Tickets cost £10 for anyone aged 12 or over and £5 for anyone under 12 years old. To buy tickets, would-be attendees need to own a GAME reward card. If they do not currently own one, they can go to any GAME store to sign up and then go to the website to buy the tickets.

Owlient was founded in Paris in 2005 and has 40 team members but they are a forerunner in creating free-to-play games. The company set itself apart for its ability to develop the expertise and technology necessary to manage and entertain an online game community.

Following acquisitions of Massive Entertainment, Nadeo and Quazal, Owlient represents the continuation of Ubisoft’s focus on expanding its online expertise and infrastructure in order to expand its portfolio using new online business models. The recent launch of AAA project Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online in closed beta, the enthusiasm of the TrackMania community, the success of The Settlers Online in Germany and the Uplay online services platform are the most recent realizations of this strategy.

This is not Ubisoft first acquisition in the online segment, they have acquired many more and for those of you interested you can see them below:
- November 2008: acquisition of Massive Entertainment, renowned for their specialty in creating multiplayer games. Massive is collaborating on or responsible for the development of several ambitious unannounced projects.
- October 2009: acquisition of Nadeo, creator of cult hit multiplayer driving game, TrackMania. TrackMania 2 Canyon and ManiaPlanet will be launched in 2011.
- November 2010: acquisition of Quazal, a leader in the creation of online technical solutions. Assassin’s Creed implements Quazal technology for its multiplayer mode, which received the Game Critics Award for “Best Online Game” at E3 2010.
The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in Ubisoft’s second quarter of fiscal 2012.

As most of you will know Ubisoft is a leading producer, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment products worldwide and has grown considerably through a strong and diversified line-up of products and partnerships. Ubisoft is currently present in 28 countries and has sales in more than 55 countries around the globe. It is and probably will always be committed to delivering high-quality, cutting-edge video game titles to consumers. For the 2008-09 fiscal year Ubisoft generated sales of €1.058 billion. I wouldnt mind being a penny short of that let me tell yer lol.

So being as Assassins Creed always pushes it’s platform to the limits and this time around why should things change? It is also one of them games that never seems to let people down and now it has multiplayer it is even better. Playstation 3 uses also get some free DLC content which is waiting patiently on the Playstation Store but for the purpose of this review I shall state that I have not tried that yet as I didn’t want it to effect the review.

Like me many people will probably pick this up as their first Assassins Creed game and other than reading stories about it online I didnt really know what the Assassins Creed games were about but here is what I did find out.

‘Assassin’s Creed’ is a romantic series of action games that pushes the technical limits of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with outstanding depictions of the world’s greatest cities in ancient times. Inside these cities a secret war rages between the Knights Templar and a cult of assassins, the latter recently enlisting the help of an Italian nobleman named Ezio Auditore da Firenze. ‘Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood’ is faster-paced than the first two instalments of the series, with Ezio adding more sensational manoeuvres to his free-running repertoire in between scrappier assassinations. Generally it seems that ‘Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood’ is chasing an action-oriented audience.


In Assassins Creed Brotherhood you live and breathe as Ezio Auditore, a legendary master assassin. The single player campaign is roughly 15 hours long in the lively and unpredictable Rome to help you experience the Renaissance. Also for a first Assassins Creed Brotherhood now has a multiplayer mode. You get to choose from a wide selection of unique characters with their own distinctive weapons and assassination techniques.

As most games it does have its good and bad sides of it though but I won’t say its a bad game at all….infact it’s quite fun!

The Good Points:

The free-running (parkour) thrills that debuted with the original Assassin’s Creed have become more breathtaking than ever. Ezio is launched rapidly skyward upon tripping a switch to gain height fast, or takes to swinging on lanterns and chains to round corners without losing momentum. Apparently this is something that has been brought from the previous game, such as renovating the city to open new outlets for armour, medicine, and the latest fashions. This great idea is expanded to include the whole of Rome. Also the city is so vast that Ezio can ride his horse through the streets to save time, or take shortcuts through a network of tunnels. Exploration can be mesmerising due to fantastic detail in all locations. If fighting is more your thing, you’ll love the way the combat system flows.

The Bad Points:

There aren’t any glaring negatives to ‘Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood’ but, as with previous outings, the first hour or so is slow to get started. A love scene is part of this, and is quite embarrassing – not because you see anything, it just seemed pointless watching a couple of videogame models getting it on. Infact I went and put the kettle on at that point. This is scene-setting, of course, but the storyline elsewhere can be hard to follow when you’re mostly busy figuring out how to climb the nearest tall building or legging it after a terrified Borgias assassination target. ‘Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood’ is best when it’s having more boisterous fun.

It does also feature a hollywood actress too, well at least her face makes an appearance if not her voice. I am of course speaking of Kristen Bell who according to IMDB plays no part in Brotherhood but did feature in Assassins Creed 2. Here is Kristens face in Assassins Creed Brotherood.

Something that I need to mention is that as a new comer to the Assassins Creed-Series I did find the game challenging in parts but there is enough online guides to get you past certain points or, if like me you would rather work it out yourself then just remember to take as much time as you need, although at points of the game in order to get 100% you will need to really do things as you are told whether that is throwing a Captain of the Borgian Army into some scaffolding or passing a certain stage in order 8 minutes it really is best to work it out yourself. If you don’t manage to do it at 100% you can always replay certain missions/memories until you do.

Compared to other games out there this is really on it’s own right now the multiplayer mode is ‘ok’ but nothing will beat FPS with gamers these days and it’s hard to make Assassins Creed takeover them popular FPS but…saying that it still is worth a try. The game is also Uplay enabled which means that points you have collected from other titles such as H.A.W.X.2 and Splintercell Conviction can be carried over to here this allows you to change various elements such as play as the Hellequin or perhaps you want to play using Altair’s robes, well thanks to Uplay you can.

Below is ingame footage recorded by me which shows you the Uplay rewards that are available to see for yourself. It was recorded using a neat little thing called VBOX2 and was via Component cables, I am aware that the quality may not be absolutely fantastic but I havent messed with settings you can still clearly see what is there for you.

So taking into account the massive singleplayer campaign and stunning views of Rome this side of 1500A.D. And the new Multiplayer concept I am going to give this game a 9 out of 10 but suggest you get hold of Assassins Creed 2 first as this game apparently starts where that ends.
