Radiangames Fireball Available NOW on Xbox Live

xboxboxart

Radiangames is proud to announce its fifth game, Fireball, is now available for download through Xbox Live Indie Games on the Xbox 360 for 80 MSP ($1).  Did you read that line?  FIFTH GAME!  OF THE YEAR!  (And they’re all rated 4+ stars)

Fireball is an arcade game all about dodging the massive hoard of evil icy enemies and leaving them in shards.  Trigger devastating explosion chains and go for huge combos and scores as you compete against yourself, your friends, and the best in the world thanks to online scoreboards, a first in the Radiangames series.

Whilst Luke Schneider of Radiangames’ wife was playing Fireball he had this to say:

“While Fireball only confirms my obsession with Geometry Wars 2—it’s an expanded and evolved version of Pacifism mode—it’s also a game that I wanted to play badly, and I’m glad it’s finally available so I can crush everyone in the online scoreboards,”

In addition to being available directly through the Games Marketplace on Xbox 360 consoles, the game can be queued for download at the recently updated Xbox 360 Marketplace site:

The next games in the series, Crossfire 2 and Inferno 2, will both be released this December.

Indie dev takes advantage of XBLA loophole

There is loopholes everywhere, especially in Law so why not within things like the Xbox Live Arcade?
Well anyway, its looking like the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade platform game Super Meat Boy will be capable of downloading additional content which apparently sidesteps Microsoft’s standard approval processes.

By using the Title Managed Storage system, developers “Team Meat” will be able to push new levels to the game, which players can download for free. This is because all new content is made using a standardised level creation tool, Microsoft will allow additional levels to be made available without going through the certification it otherwise forces onto all DLC.

“In a world where it costs $2 to unlock content in a game that you’ve already purchased,” explained Refenes, “it is nice to have the power to totally say ‘f— you’ to that system and go our own way.”

Microsoft has not been resistant to Team Meat’s unorthodox methods, Refenes claimed. “In the end they actually welcomed it because they want developers to do anything and everything with their service that makes them stand out. “No one has ever done anything like this in the history of XBLA as far as we and our people at MS know.” Team Meat have released a schedule of planned approval-free DLC running early next year.

Following the later release of a PC version with a level editor, the pair also intend to publish the best user-made content to the XBLA edition of Super Meat Boy.
