To say that this game is small is ridiculous because its huge, and I mean HUUUUGGGGEEEE just like GTAIV is and if you have no idea how huge that game’s map is then you really don’t know what your missing.

From the minute you start the game you just know that its a Rockstar title and you really can tell that this is going to be one hell of a journey. 5 years have been spent on this title and it shows. It shows in every action, every person and in every animal that you skin. There is seriously hours/days/months of things to do and even more things to discover with great rewards too. For example just by linking your Playstation Account and the Social Club from Rockstar you can gain access to a new suit, just in-case being dressed like a cowboy is not your cup of tea and you prefer to place people on train tracks in a nice elegant suit.

The game runs on both Euphoria Physics and the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine. So when you shoot a bad guy in the arm, he’ll drop his gun. Or hit him in the left leg and he’ll limp off favouring his right.

One of the missions involves using TNT, which looks spectacular thanks to superb graphics.

Joining the Social Club is free by the way, check out http://socialclub.rockstargames.com for details.

You play the game as John Marston a reformed criminal who kinda reminds me of Dog the Bounty Hunter of the wild west. John Marston is sent across America to help kill or capture his former gang members, including his old “friend” and gang partner Bill Williamson, or his family will pay the ultimate price.

Along the way through frontier towns, deserts, prairies, and mountain passes, Marston is given work as he explores the free-roaming sandbox environments. The game features 36 species of animals that can be hunted including cattle, bears, rattlesnakes, wolves, vultures, bighorn sheep, owls, cougars and others.

If you can track down 3 breeds of horse and “break them” then you will be given a trophy for your efforts. – I am still trying to find time to get them horses because I am too busy exploring the vast landscape trying to get the trophy for killing every species of animal.

Some people are complaining that the XBOX360 of this game is a lot more superior to the Playstation 3 review, well I can’t comment on that as I haven’t had the different versions to compare but from comparison shots I have seen, I don’t think you would notice. As it doesn’t make you lose sight of the fantastic graphics at work here. Also if you are hoping for another version to “GUN” released by Activision back in 2005 then forget it, it does look similar to it as far as it has cowboys but that’s it.
irish Red Dead Redemption: Review
The characters that you will meet are to me what you would expect to meet in the wild west, conmen, drunks, prostitutes and dodgy lawmen.

One of the great features I like to use occasionally is the Dead Eye. This allows you to slow down the game and mark certain things which you then press R2 to shoot really quickly. This can be used as an advantage if a group of 4/5 robbers try to get you off guard or if you just fancy shooting loads of people in one town in a sweep. Its like a bit of the Matrix in the wild west.

If you want to take one of the prostitutes back to your purchased home or rented room then forget it, John Marston is very faithful to his wife so that’s not possible. I think that this is mainly because Rockstar like to prove that despite sex being offered on a plate – it’s not always needed in games, even in GTAIV you see no “hot coffee”.

The music is also fantastic, one of the more popular tracks is shown below….I say popular because people have been asking what this track is on many forums.

If you want to keep listening to the music when you’re out and about then you can thanks to Rockstar releasing it via iTunes and Amazon Red Dead Redemption: Review.

Despite the music being in the game there is no radio, its just placed there like a film score and – I quite like it like that, I’m sure you will.

OK so what can you do once you have gone through the story?

Well you can head out and get all them achievements and trophies your mates have or want, you can head online and free roam with randomers and do some little missions or just go hunting after someone. Yesterday I just went and killed everyone for no reason whatsoever, I was having an off-day icon smile Red Dead Redemption: Review

Rockstar like to encourage multiplaying action whenever possible so there is plenty of modes to keep you entertained and if you want to attack a rockstar because you have some thing against them, like forgetting to add the moon in the PC version of GTAIV may have angered you in some way….well check out their twitter account as they constantly post about wanting people to play against, plus there is an achievement/trophy for killing a Rockstar Dev, or someone else who has – I have that trophy BTW.

The score for the game is shown below and the only reason its not a full 10/10 is because I’m keeping that for maybe the next Red Dead title and also I want to see what the DLC is going to be like before awarding a full 10/10

It has a Facebook game too: Red Dead Redemption: Gunslingers also check out the fan made Wikia page on Red Dead here: http://reddead.wikia.com

Rockstar not only have an ability to make great games, but they also go the extra mile to focus on every tiny detail and it shows.

UFC Undisputed 2010 – Review

UFC Undisputed has definately got to be one of the greatest if not THE greatest fighting game that is out now or due out soon. The graphics look amazing mainly because it supports all HD resolutions (720p/1080i/1080p) and even the character customisation seems spot on. With plenty of time you could probably ‘Create a Fighter’ that looks just like you or someone you know – perhaps your favourite celeb.

If you want a fighter with NEON Pink hair – you can. If you want your fighter to be wearing bright green shorts – you can, almost anything is possible in this game.

I did however feel a tad upset with the ‘Create A Fighter’ feature because despite the fact that some of the biggest cities in England were listed there was no Sheffield – the place where I was born…there is Leeds however, so I chose that. Also when it came to voices there was only 1 british accent out of the 5 and it was more of a ‘mockney’ accent I just feel that they should have atleast done some variations on the british accents as they did with the american ones. Nevermind.

You can choose from various fighting styles to match your tastes then you can learn new ones too, via camps mentioned below. This makes your fighter that ever more challenging as the game learns from your actions. You will notice this when in fights and there is commentry available. For example if you was to end all of your matches in the exact same way, for example using ‘the superman punch’ then the commentators would say something like how you are getting known to use the superman punch to end your fights. The commentators by the way are voiced by Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan.

41sny5ephtlss400 UFC Undisputed 2010 Review

Now amongts all its great features and stunning graphics it does have a bad point and a point that I feel is worth mentioning. There is no commentary when you enter ‘Career Mode’. I seriously do not understand why there is no commentary of matches at all but feel that this is definately something that should be addressed somehow – maybe a patch?

When you do fights outside of ‘Career Mode’ you get commentary throughout a match, as mentioned above as your stats are read to you. I know its not down to me that there is no commentary as I went through all the options and made sure commentary volume was up but still all I can hear are the crowds cheering and my custom fighter wiping the floor with some unlucky soul’s head.

So shall we head into more detail then?
Ok lets go.

Features

CONTROLS: In UFC 2009 Undisputed,  clinch grappling and ground grappling were handled with multiple control schemes, which could be cumbersome to juggle depending on the fighter’s orientation. This year, we undertook a new design philosophy that allowed us to better align our clinch grappling and ground grappling. In essence, players will now perform clinch pummels and throws using the ultimate fighting control the same way they performed transitions in UFC 2009 Undisputed.

SUBMISSIONS: While we’ve done quite a bit of tinkering with the submission system, the stick rolling method of submission execution and escape (known semiofficially as The Shine) will return. What we did want to change was the button mashing/brute force escape we utilized last year. This enabled fighters with high strength to be just as good at getting out of submissions as fighters with high submission defense. Now all fighters will utilize The Shine, but the parameters that govern the success of getting out of a submission have changed. For UFC Undisputed 2010, the submission calculations will use either a fighter’s submission defense or his current energy level expressed as a percentage–whichever is higher. For example, let’s say a fighter has a submission defense skill of 50. If the fighter has 100 stamina and full (100 percent) energy, the game will look at this energy level, and the fighter will have a great chance of getting out of a submission. If the fighter has 100 stamina and has used the majority of his energy reserves, the game will look at the fighter’s submission defense skill; in this case, shine hard! We feel this system is fairer to players and more representative of how an actual submission struggle would go down.

CAGE SUPPORT: We’ve implemented full cage support in UFC Undisputed 2010, and its effect on gameplay is huge. Our design approach to implementing cage gameplay allowed us to utilize our universal grapple system concept. On the ground, we have a rising hierarchy of positional advantage based on how much threat potential one fighter has in relation to another. In the case of two equally skilled fighters in open guard, for instance, the fighter on top is in a slightly better situation than the fighter on the bottom. We express this by saying the top fighter has a 55/45 advantage over the bottom fighter, expressed in the damage output of his strikes, the lethality of his submissions, etc. Put the same two fighters in the mount position, for instance, and that advantage changes to something much more dramatic, like say a 90/10 in favor of the top fighter. We’ve utilized similar thinking with regard to the cage. Let’s say we have the same two equally skilled fighters in the single collar tie position in the middle of the octagon. We consider this position to be one in which both fighters have equal advantage–a true 50/50 position. If one fighter manages to push his opponent up against the cage, he’ll restrict his movement, limit the force he’s able to generate on his strikes, and make it harder for him to regain energy; thus, shifting the balance in the favor of the free-standing fighter. It’s an elegant system that we feel accurately represents the strategies employed in a real UFC fight.

FIGHTER CUSTOMIZATION: For UFC Undisputed 2010, we’ve substantially increased the number of available parts for creation, but we’ve also added a ton of new features and improvements. One of the biggest changes from the previous game is the way we allow players to allocate individual moves for their fighters. Last year, we had base styles, each of which came with a set of predefined moves. This meant that all Brazilian jujitsu ( BJJ) fighters had the same moves and techniques as other BJJ fighters. We wanted to change that this year, so we opened it up and now allow players to assign individual moves to their fighters on a move-by-move basis. There are well over 200 moves that can be assigned, mixed, and matched to create truly unique fighters. Also new this year is the ability to fight orthodox, southpaw, or switch and assign a dominate power hand. Players can also choose their navigation style from a number of different postures to give their fighters more of a distinct look.

SPONSORSHIP & LOGOS: The new system, which we’ve also applied to the placement of tattoos, uses more of a drag-and-drop style interface. Gone are the predefined spots where logos can only be placed and the series of menus that were required to place a logo. This year, it’s as simple as picking shorts, picking a logo, and choosing its location on the shorts. Speaking of clothing, many top brands in MMA are back, along with some new ones, so players will have access to an extensive assortment of new designs and logos. In addition, we are also allowing players to pick or create their own post-fight clothing, which is worn during winner announcement scenes and certain areas in Career mode.

CAREER MODE: Included are several new features to help build up each fight and give them more meaning. An example of this is a new system we’ve added called “Game Is Watching You.” The GIWY system tracks everything players are doing during the fighter’s career and reflects it through commentary during fights. Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg will reference the fighter’s previous fights, his training partners, titles held, and other things he does during his career. Opponents will also take notice of performances and adjust their fight styles and strategies to counter strengths and take advantage of weaknesses.

FIGHTING TECHNIQUES: In addition to the six returning fighting techniques (boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, judo, and Brazilian jujitsu), three more have been added: Karate, Greco-Roman wrestling, and Sambo. We’ve also moved away from the concept of one striking fighting technique and one grappling fighting technique in favor of a system that allows fighters to learn individual moves as they see fit. We feel this more accurately represents the type of cross-discipline training that the modern UFC fighter needs in order to compete at the highest levels.

ONLINE FIGHT CAMPS: Fight camps unite many different fighters under a single banner to compete against fighters from other fight camps to unlock new milestones and rewards. Players can use the virtual space of their fight camp to spar and teach each other the ins and outs of the game. Players can even bring in their Career mode fighters for an online training session to train with other players and get an extra career “cred” boost. Those boosts make better fighters and those better fighters make better camps.

NEW MODES: Additions include a Title and Title Defense mode, a Tournament mode and the Classic Fights mode will return with substantial changes.

So Should I buy it?

Short Answer: YES.
Long Answer: Yes. Its hard to find a game these days that will keep you gripped but thankfully this is definately one of them. Mainly because its just impossible to fight against someone who has the same moves as your fighter, the variations available to everyone is just fantastic. Whether you’ve played UFC 2009 or not really doesnt matter because this game is for anyone with fingers and thumbs really. Other than EA’s Fight Night Round 4 I had not played any kind of fighting game which I enjoyed as much as this one and probably will continue to play for months to come if not years…..or until UFC Undisputed 2011 comes out icon smile UFC Undisputed 2010 Review You can hold me to that too by looking at my xbox 360′s own blog as im sure he/she will comment about it. Or by looking at my gamer card on the right of the site. Also if you wanna kick someones head in pretty easy – i’m yer man.

You should be aware of the following though. THQ have recently decided to charge people who buy their titles 2nd hand for online play. This means that if you think that getting the cheaper traded in version is better, its not always the case as you will be charged extra to get online against your buddies. You can read more about that here: THQ to Charge 2nd Hand Users for ONLINE PLAY.

Splinter Cell: Conviction Splinter Cell Conviction: Review – Launch Trailer

If you read or saw details of the early version of the game you will remember that “Conviction” was to be more of a sandbox game than previous entries in the series. Sam Fisher also had a much different appearance. His hair was considerably longer, he had a full beard, and he did not have any of his trademark stealth equipment. Another important feature of the game was going to be dynamic environments in which Sam could interact with many objects by picking them up, pushing them, or throwing them. Lighting and shading in the game was vastly improved since Splinter Cell: Double Agent Splinter Cell Conviction: Review. In 2008, it was reported that Conviction was on hold for the time being as the team went to re-work the game, fearing that the game was too similar to Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed and deviated too much from the rest of the games in the Splinter Cell series. The early version of Conviction was essentially thrown out, with the current version featuring almost no similarities to it. Well this game is nothing like that, read on for more details.
I’ll be honest and tell you now that the last Splinter Cell game I played was Splinter Cell Essentials on the PSP but I never got to finish it as the PSP was stolen in a burglary. I did find it fun though and with the Uplay feature implemented it made the game a little bit better as not only do you get the XBOX Achievements but you also get points from UBISOFT also which you can redeem for an extra weapon, different costume or even a new theme for your XBOX Dashboard.
The point of the game is STEALTH which is the aim for most games like this but what I found was ace was the ability to mark & execute enemies and that can range from 2-4 depending on the weapon and when you’re ready you hit Y and in a flash those enemies are gone. Also you will need to factor in an escape route just incase someone spotted you…..so take cover elsewhere but when someone comes to investigate your last known position you can gain extra points for taking them out.
There is also in-game challenges that you can do as you progress through the well planned story these are stuff like take out 10 people in a row without being detected, get through a stage without being spotted or retrying, so it makes you wanna pick the game up again and again just to see what you can achieve. There is also a co-op mode but at the time of writing this I had not tested it out fully,

Joystiq.com did an article last year that sums up the multi-player/co-op features perfectly so I will quote them here:

Everything you may have heard is true: The main co-op mode (either online or local / split-screen play, with a human partner or A.I.) is a prequel to the events of the game and doesn’t star series staple Sam Fisher. Instead, the estimated 5- to 6-hour campaign focuses on two networks operatives — one American, one Russian — who must work together to recover stolen nuclear warheads before they’re sold on the black market.

The game will also feature co-op play in what are being called “deniable ops” — more conventional intrusion missions and the like — as well as a player-v-player-vs-CPU “duel” mode. What I played was part of the the prequel campaign: an admittedly brief but eye-opening mission set in Moscow’s fortified metro system.

I am really glad I gave this game a whirl and it was a blast, and continues to be. There is quite a few stages that had me finding patience and perseverance but in the end it paid off well. The story as mentioned is very well written, kind of like a Bourne film but without the constant annoyance of Matt Damon mixed in with a little of 24 for good measure. Also some of Americas biggest landmarks have been recreated brilliantly such as the Whitehouse and Lincoln memorial.

scco Splinter Cell Conviction: ReviewIf you are looking for something like Splinter Cell: Double Agent Splinter Cell Conviction: Review then you are not going to find it in this game. Sam Fisher no longer uses Multi-Vision Goggles as in previous games as the game uses a new stealth mechanic. The game also introduced a lot more features such as “Storyline Environment” this gives Sam flashbacks or hints of new characters or situations appear on the foreground of the game environment. Enhancing the storyline in real time. Clues will also be represented within the game such as names of people or mission objectives. The “Last known position” feature I mentioned above is shown via a silhouette of the player character which will appear to where the enemy last saw them. The cool thing about this again is that it can easily be used in conjunction with Mark and Execute to arrange easier executions. Amongst other new game-play features I found one of the better ones called “Persistent Elite Creation (P.E.C)” this lets you pick up weapons and ammunition from fallen enemies and fully customise them at weapon stashes placed throughout the game. It is also possible to edit the appearance of your avatar and increase his amour and the amount of ammunition and gadgets you can carry, plus the efficiency of your weapons and gadgets.

If you want to test this game before committing to buy it then on March 18, 2010, the demo was released for Xbox 360. The demo includes an interrogation scene, and a game play scene which allows the player to fully get a grasp of the game’s new features.

I don’t think I have ever played a game that has so many options for take downs as this does, whether that be silently taking out a 200pxsamfisher1 Splinter Cell Conviction: Reviewlone gun man to get the point needed to use mark and execute or dragging someone out of the window its all fun. You could even hang of a ledge and open and close a window constantly if you get too into the story line and want to get bored easily. I prefer to open a window throw in a flash bang and then take everyone down by using the B button and get the tokens for more complicated stages. During some cut scenes you will get to choose how to interrogate certain people too, whether that just be a punch to the face or a head through a window so the game is far from any other of the Splinter Cell ones. I also mentioned that the goggles had been removed, this is so you can now use Sonar Goggles instead which allow you to spot enemies behind walls, you can also mark them for the mark and execute manoeuvre to quickly empty a room, or you can just choose to drop an enemy from above by landing on him and when used with marking you can see where his team mates are at all times so you can always be ready for the next idiotic soldier.

This game leaves you wanting more and just hoping that Splinter Cell 6 keeps some of its new features without getting rid of the stealthy evasive combat I started to love in this game.

Its definitely worth buying but if you want to see how great it is first then check out the demo.

Well done to UBISOFT, you made me a fan again icon smile Splinter Cell Conviction: Review
