Update – First MW3 DLC collection for Non Elite members will be March
As previously reported on Ghoststorm, this week Activision revealed information on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3′s “Content Season”, which is a 9 month schedule of downloadable content, between January and September with a minimum of 20 bits of DLC. The season of DLC will begin on January 24th for Xbox Live customers with premium Elite subscriptions. The first 2 drops are the multiplayer maps Piazza and Liberation, each playable in multiplayer and Special Ops modes.
However for those people who don’t have a paid Elite subscription, the new content will not be available until March. On Twitter, Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling said, “ELITE subscribers get free monthly DLC content drops for #MW3. In March, the first paid collection of DLC comes out for non-subscribers.” Lets not forget though, the collection of DLC in March will get more than the 2 maps Elite subscribers will be receiving later this month. Bowling explained “by the time the collection comes out, there will have been multiple drops. These 2 maps are just the first Jan drops.”
Xbox 360 paid Elite members are going to have the first look with the newly announced DLC on January 24th, but what about Playstation 3 paid Elite subscribers ? Activision’s Mikey Vega confirmed that MW3′s DLC will certainly become accessible to PS3 Elite members prior to regular Xbox 360 owners. Yet PC gamers remain in the situation without even having Elite service on PC. Also if non Elite Xbox 360 gamers are going to have access to the DLC in March this means that PC and PS3 non Elite gamers may have to wait until April to buy the first collection, due to the time-based exclusivity deal that Call of Duty has with Xbox.
