Xbox 360 spring system update begins rolling out
Xbox 360 is receiving a spring system update.
Some users have already received the update – which, according to Major Nelson, will roll out to all Xbox 360 owners by the end of next week.
“If you got an Xbox 360 System Update: Spring update rolling out to a few this week – everyone else next week,”
“The system updated (sic) contains behind the scenes improvements & prep for future enhancements,”
While specifics haven’t been announced, the update is likely paving the way for some of the new features Microsoft announced during the past week at E3.
SmartGlass is one of the new features coming to Xbox 360 later this year, enabling users to send media from their console to any tablet or smartphone to continue watching. It can also display additional information when watching videos or playing games, such as drawing plays for Madden or showing a world map when watching Game of Thrones.
Microsoft is also bringing Internet Explorer to Xbox 360, featuring a full web browser using a standard controller, Kinect voice controls or SmartGlass once the feature is available.
Xbox Music will also arrive on Xbox 360 this year, bringing over 30 million songs to the new streaming service that will work across Xbox 360 systems, Windows 8 PCs, tablets and smartphones.
